Gold-filled jewelry contains a metal alloy base. Through a heating and bonding process, gold is permanently bonded to an alloy base that will not flake or chip. Strict regulations govern the process mandating that gold must make up a minimum 1/20 of the total weight. Gold filled jewelry wears the same as full 14K gold, it can be worn in the ocean, pool, shower, gym, it can tolerate perfume and sunblock as well, and can be washed with soap and water to bring the shine back if necessary. Gold filled is not the same as gold plated as the color doesn’t chip or rub off on your skin.
